1948 Tucker Torpedo
“You’ll step into an automobile age when you drive your Tucker 48.” – Ad Slogan
This is the story of Preston Tucker. Tucker: The Man and His Dream was a Bridges movie from 1988. The movie surrounded the life of this car designer and a revolutionary car concept. Behold the 1948 Tucker Torpedo. The car was briefly produced in Chicago. The car’s actual name is the Tucker 48, but she is commonly referred to as the Tucker Torpedo.
Ahead of its time, this car combines: comfort, power, and safety, at an affordable price. Additional features were included such as four-wheel independent suspension, a rear-mounted Bell helicopter engine, pop-out safety windshields, and an uncrushable passenger compartment. Roughly 50 cars were completed being built before Tucker ran into some money troubles. Several more were partially completed.
This model was a sketchup conversion. Minor details were corrected such as adding windows, and new low poly tires. New textures for optimization were required for colour variations and AD adaptability. Enjoy!
