1971 Buick Riviera Grand Sport
Spritelier than you’d expect, this prewar era pontoon design makes a beautiful entry with this 1971 Buick Riviera Grand Sport. According to this article,[www.hemmings.com] the Riviera received inspiration from earlier GM designs such as the 1963 Corvette Sting Ray. The Riviera also shares its 122-inch-wheelbase, perimeter-frame B-body chassis, and glass with the LeSabre and Centurion. The Riviera is 217 inches long tapping out at just over 4,400 lbs. The Grand Sport package of the Riviera began in 1965. High praise for the car came with Buick’s new suspension geometry.
The 1963 Buick Riviera was featured in the 2008 drama Buick Riviera.[www.imdb.com] We more commonly remember it from Alabama 3’s Woke Up This Morning music video which is the theme to The Sopranos produced by HBO. “Well you do, so make your mind to go on,” and subscribe and enjoy.
