7-panel "Pratt" type truss
Pratt-type truss span
A 7-panel “Pratt” type truss, 90m long, painted in International Red. It will carry 4-grid-square-wide roads (4 or 6 lanes). The 3-lane highway will also fit, but it looks weird, because it’s narrower than the roads mentioned above & the steel work shows up outside. Trust me, it looks wrong.
2 mods are a must for this:
MoveIt!, by SamsamTS
I consider it to be an absolute must nowadays, considering the crazy amount of power it gives you.
Fine Road Too, also by SamsamTS
It lets you change the ‘mode’ for network pieces, i.e. normal, ground, elevated, bridge, or tunnel. But more importantly, it allows for Road Anarchy, something that’s necessary for placing the road across the bridge.
HOW TO PLACE
Place the bridge first. It uses the Advanced Wind Turbine template, so it must be placed in water. It doesn’t generate electricity, but it will transmit – useful for getting power across the river without using power lines.
Now, build your road. My preference is to just stretch the road across the span. I’ve put guides at the ends for convenience–they should be covered by the road.
Next, use MoveIt to position the road section precisely within the span. For regular 4 and 6 lane roads, the curb will be about a 1/2 meter in from the steel work on both sides.
For the 4-lane road which includes tram tracks, the steel work sits right on the curb or just a little on the inside — something I didn’t account for.
Finalize by linking the road up with the shore on either side. MoveIt comes in handy here again, as you can then make the approach curves neat and tidy.
