Palace of the Republic – Berlin, East Germany
A small piece of Cold War architecture. Here is the Palace of the Republic from East Berlin, East Germany (German Democratic Republic). Like many buildings of its time this place was filled with Asbestos requiring the facility to be closed while the asbestos was removed. In the end the building was torn down with demolition starting in 2006 and ending in 2008 much to the displeasure of East German residents.
