M151 MUTT Prop
Created in the 1950s for the US military, the M151 ¼-Ton 4×4 Utility Truck, named the MUTT (Multipurpose Utility Tactical Truck) by it’s manufacturer Ford – but called a jeep by everyone else – saw use until the 1990s, when it was replaced entirely by the HMMWV, which was created in the 1980s in an attempt to combine the function of multiple vehicles such as the MUTT and the Gamma Goat. Humorously though, the Marines would later need a vehicle similar the the MUTT so that Osprey VTOLs could transport them. This would lead to the M1161 Growler in 2009 (which you’ve probably seen in Battlefield 3 and 4).
I find the MUTT to be woefully under-represented in video games, despite its long service. Games set in Vietnam tend to use a Willys Jeep model from a previous WWII game, and many Cold War games are set in the later years and use the Humvee. So I decided to create the MUTT. Since it exceeds the 1000 poly recommendation for props and vehicles, I don’t think I’ll make it into a vehicle, due to the creation of a driver would drastically increase the poly count. Also, I’m a bit dissatisfied with how it turned out, but that’s a reflection of the gap between my imagination and my 3D modeling abilities.
TL;DR: Here’s a MUTT, a Cold War jeep. I wanted to create it instead of a Humvee. Due to poly count, no vehicle version is planned. Humvee will be created anyway.
