Delta Center, Home of the Utah Jazz NBA basketball team in Salt Lake City. Giving rise to NBA greats such as John Sockton and Karl Malone (Nicknamed “The Mailman”).
John Stockton is regarded as one of the best point guards of all time. He holds the NBA Record for both Career Assists(15,806) and Steals(3,265) by a considerable margin. He is a ten-time NBA All-Star, two-time Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame inductee, and also a member of the 1992 United States men’s Olympic basketball team (“Dream Team”). Stockton currently is an assistant coach for the Montana State University women’s basketball team.
Karl Malone scored the second most career points in NBA History (36,928). He holds the Record for the most free throw attempts and ties the record with Kobe Bryant on most first team All-NBA elections. Considered one of the best power forwards in NBA history.
Known to have one of the loudest sport arena crowds. During Game 5 of the 1997 NBA Finals, a decibel meter was installed at floor level that had reached readings over 110 decibels. Close to the amount of noise created by jet takeoff. Many commentators referred to the arena as the “Decibel Center.”
BUILDING INFO
This building was completed in 1990 with 19,911 seats, 56 suites and 668 club seats. It was oringinally named the Delta Center from 1991-2006. Then known as EnergySolutions Arena from 2006-2015. Now currently named the Vivint Smart Home Arena.
