Ambrose Island -Z- (European)
Ambrose Island is my European themed version of the Teyland map I made a while ago. The intent was to have an island map that looks and feels natural, by leaving several tiles completely empty. The main island is rhombus shaped, leaving lots of water around the coast. The island is connected to the mainland by a single highway and rail line. As a bonus, there is a slim little island in the far corner of the map. It’ll cost you at least two tiles to claim it, so it’s a bit of an expensive purchase, but you’ll get a great scenic viewpoint on the main island from there.
Infrastructure
There is just one highway and one railway. I’ve intentionally tried to keep it as simple as possible, leaving the main infrastructure design up to the player. I did place an intersection in the starting tile, to make expension of your highway a bit easier. There are shiproutes along the coast, every coastal spot should be able to connect to these routes. The river has a ship connection at the bay, up to the small sandy bay.
Water
The river on the island moves very slow. It can handle one or two sewage pumps, but I strongly suggest to place them on the coast or at the small lake. If you place a water pump at small part of the river, eventually the sea will flow into the bay. Keep this in mind with regards to pollution flowing upstream. The mountain lake is an excellent spot for water pumps, as to prevent polluted water.
Resources
I’ve mixed the farmland with ore and oil fields, these are placed with the aesthetics of the map in mind. However, there are also two oil and two ore fields in the mountains that are bit more logical to use for industrial purposes.
