Aspen Ridge: with Roadtrip through the Rocky Mountain terrain
Build your next city in the beautiful Rocky Mountains! Despite the looks, this map has as much playable area as the maps that are in the base game. What stands out here is that the elevation range on this map is tremendous.
Thanks to Simplicity for the Youtube video of his city in Aspen Ridge.
**SPECIAL FEATURE** The scenic highway that runs through the valleys of the playable area allows a beautiful roadtrip through the map for those with the first person view mod. The system also serves a practical function for the map. The “Trans-Ridge” highway connector connects the start square with the roadtrip highway on the other side of the ridge, which ensures that no matter which 9 squares you choose, your highways will be able to connect. (see highway map image).
HYDRO DAM capable, no chance of tsunami nor flood at all.
It is a great map to drive around in first person, as the steep city streets will allow for distant landscape views even from within your city.
A lot of work went into making sure the playable areas are smooth enough and graded enough so that most roads can be built, but you may have to choose smaller roads in certain slopes. Even at the more steep hillsides, you can use dirt roads to keep the elevations more attractive. Fill any unattractive raising of ground by buildings on a slope with trees, and voila, beautiful hilly neighborhood.
The large level sites for airports are on the other side of the ridge from the start square, so you will want to plan for expansion in that direction.
There are two road cuts through the high mountain ranges, so all that highway that I put down isn’t absolutely necessary, and of course you can demolish it and build your own. You can also connect the separated valleys via metro systems, and/or run rail through the cut
