City of Roanoke
Straddling the banks of the Sheffield river, and sandwiched between the Atlantic Ocean and Queen Mary Bay as well as the intersection of Interstates 46 and 52, the City of Roanoke has grown from a small village to a global hub of culture and business. With a population of nearly 120,000 it is by far one of the largest cities in the area, and features a dense business district packed with skyscrapers, parks filled with trees to escape the hustle of city life and calm, sprawling suburbs.
The Roanoke Metropolitan Area also includes Suffolk, Nassau, Mercer and Essex counties, as well as Roanoke Harbor, FDR Airport, and Pike Hydroworks, one of the main suppliers of power for the metro area. The City of Roanoke proudly boasts that it runs entirely on renewable energy, with 100% of its electricity coming from wind, solar and hydropower.
Visit Roanoke and enjoy our beautiful parks, impressive buildings, Old Town and Wentworth Hill National Park.
