One Liberty Plaza 1:1

One Liberty Plaza was completed in 1972 in New York City. Construction started in 1969 on the site of the Singer Building and its neighbor the City Investing Building. Back in 1908 both buildings where competing to taller than each other and the won out becoming the tallest building in the world (until the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company Tower was completed in 1909). These two building competed with each other in style and height, however in 1968 to make space for One Liberty Plaza, then U.S. Steel Building, when both were torn down to make space, they became the largest and second largest buildings ever demolished.
One Liberty Plaza towers 100 feet taller than the Singer building and with its nearly 1 full acre floors has more space inside it than both the Singer and City Investing buildings combined.
