Perth AUS – Only works with NExt original mod
NOTE: This map no longer works unless you have the original Network Extensions (not Network Extensions 2). If you have the Disasters DLC you *must* use Network Extensions 2. I cannot fix this map because I cannot open it – I also have the DLC and NExt2.
Requested map: Perth Australia with Traffic Help. Tons of open space to fit a very large city. Nice very slight hills in NW sector
“My highway traffic all clogs one lane and cars make crazy lane changes!” Let’s try to reduce this!
One of the biggest complaints in the game can be greatly reduced by designing your infrastructure according to what vehicles do in this game. This system works because of the way vehicles set out their route in the game.
This map serves as a physical demonstration of one way to reduce this annoying game experience, and is hopefully just a nice map on top of that. **You will have to also integrate the “lane splitting” idea into your city where it joins the highways. I can’t do that part, but look at the pics and inside your game as to how the highway exits and interchanges split lanes up.

I DON’T SEE TRAFFIC YET!!
“There’s no highway traffic yet!” Don’t worry, it’s working right! The first trickles of highway traffic don’t start coming in for a while, but they will come! See images for visual explanation. A big chunk of the neighbor to neighbor traffic will not be clogging up your downtown highways (unless you build them a more efficient connection right through your downtown).

Also includes the usual interesting built-in little extras. In this map:
– Accurate real life road and rail locations. Thanks to majortm11 for all the help from a local!
– Kings Park, one of the biggest city parks in the world. Sits on a plateau overlooking the Central Business District (the start square). Preserve of native bushland vegetation.
– Herdsman – large ring of lake(s) with enormous spanse of reed grasses in the center, dries seasonally
– River underwater formations made to look like satellite image (works with the custom Map Theme)
– Terrain – balance between real life location and game optimization. Will support a very large city
– Powerful Swan River current with tons of volume in River as well as in lakes
– The bridges across the Swan River are quite low. I had to decide between having shipping lanes right up to the start square with an absurdly tall bridge, or keeping the shipping 2 squares away. I opted for the lower bridge that is there in real life. (the port is actually beyond the edge of this map, it’s a giant city!).

RECOMMENDED:
TREE ROTATION: Please consider Boformer’s Random Tree Rotation mod because the Red River Gums will look fantastic. They were placed with the mod, so yours will also be rotated for a natural look
