Pirate’s Cove
Back in the golden age of piracy, this tropical island served as an impregnable pirate fortress, with plenty of fresh water and a well protected port. The island’s unique karst topography provides many natural terraces and plateaus for building (feel free to use this line for your own terraced maps ? A huge waterfall makes a scenic backdrop to it all. Good farmlands, forests, ore deposits and even oil abound.
You may want to use a 25 tile unlocker with this one. I have done my best to provide enough space for building in nine tiles, but there will be odd little corners where you havn’t bought the land and can’t build unless you buy more tiles, or buy a tile just to use a tiny corner of it. I’ve playtested it and you can certainly build a megalopolis in nine tiles, but things will look better with more. While not as difficult as some maps, this is not one for beginners or people who want a lot of flat uninterupted space.
The map features a large river with a giant waterfall right next to the starting square; a scenic cove ringed with steep mountains; a small island in the cove with a tiny stream and two waterfalls, a carefully landscaped port area with pre-built insets perfectly sized for placing docks, and enough totally flat land for you to place an international airport in several good locations. The starting tile has a good amount of wind power available.
