Prairie Box House
The Prairie Box, or Foursquare house, was an extremely popular house style from 1890 to around 1930. It gains it’s namesake from it’s simple rectangular shape, and is characterized by a pyrimadal roof with a central, windowed dormer facing the front, and a front porch. Sometimes, entire neighborhoods are formed entirely by these houses, albeit with some variations between the houses.
